C3 Podcast No. 25: Dennis Peron Interview

Updated: Mar 24, 2023

This article is brought to you by the new Higher Learning LV Core Cannabis course.

In No. 25 of the Cannabis Commerce + Chemistry Podcast, host Curt Robbins from Higher Learning LV interviews San Francisco-based medical cannabis advocate Dennis Peron. Peron, who passed away in January 2018, was instrumental in passage of the first medical marijuana law in the United States in California in 1996 called the Compassionate Use Act (Proposition 215).

This interview—which occurred on October 14, 2016—exposes Peron's attitudes toward legalization, medical versus adult-use (recreational) cannabis regulation, and his opposition to California's Proposition 64 in 2016 (which passed and ushered in the current tax-heavy cannabis regulatory structure in the Golden State). This interview also spotlights Peron's belief that all cannabis use is medical.
